Currently Developing Trials of Ninja (TON)
As a lone developer making a game can be a very hard frustrating thing to do. From Character design to level design, Tweaking character movement and developing mechanics, story and narrative, user interface and experience design, it is a lot. It has been a heavy load developing this game Trials of Ninja (TON) but i am happy to do it.
Trials of ninja has turned from a tiny project to small project to a not so small project. The game keeps getting bigger. We are trying to make the experience fun to play and rewarding. We have been implementing features that we hope will improve on our concept.
Here are some new features since ver 0.1
Teleportation- Character can now teleport to different locations on the screen via predefined portals. This creates a great effect and is fun to watch. It give access to secrets and transports the player to where he needs to go to progress.
Jump mechanic - has been tweaked. You can now stop in mid air and the weight and inertia of the character would not carry the character forward if the directional button is released while jumping.
Rendering issue has been fixed. There was an issue with the rendering of the environment. The objects would load while onscreen. We used instance meshes to fix this. It now renders fine. All previously built levels must be rebuilt using the new method. Some level concepts has suffered because of this change but it was necessary.
Here are features we are currently working on.
Original Character(s) - We are currently looking for an artist to design an original character. 15 frames of animation. We are trying to source an artist locally. This is critical as we cannot promote our game without it.
New levels - Our aim is 36 full levels. Currently at 7. None of them are complete due to the rendering issue explained above.
Reward system - We want the rewards in the game to be satisfying as possible. with each stage rebuild we are implementing secrets in all of them.
Original Story - We have a dynamic draft. Always subject to change.
Tentative features (Currently thinking of adding.)
Character Dash - this may be cool. but not sure how to implement it .
